Single PCV
Adapter Ring for 6” Sump
WARNING:THIS COVER IS FOR
6” SUMPS ONLY AND CAN ONLY BE USED WITH ADAPTOR RING AND MUST
BE INSTALLED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS.
Installation instructions
The "ABS round
drain cover " replacement suction outlet cover is intended as a
replacement for most existing 8"
round Main Drain Covers.
Installation can
be accomplished underwater if desired since there is no chipping, patching,
or gluing required. Installation consists of the following:
Turn off the
filter pump
Insert 3 bolts
into Adaptor Ring from the inside. Screw them in to the point when they
project beyond the outside of the Adaptor ring to the point where the bolt
heads clear each other.
Attach the 24"
cover tightly with the ridges down to the gray PVC adapter ring with the
three 1/4" stainless steel Phillips head screws provided.
Have a diver
(assuming pool/spa is full) remove the old main drain cover, screws and
discard.
Insert the PVC
Adaptor Ring fully into the Main Drain Sump with the underside half circle
cutout placed over the location where the Main Drain suction pipe enters
the Main Drain.
While firmly
pressing the Adapter Ring into the Main Drain Sump to make the 24" grate
sit flat on the pool floor* tighten the three bolts evenly and tightly so
that the Adapter Ring is held firmly and permanently in the sump.
Remove the
three phillips head screws that were attaching the 24" diameter grate to
the Adapter Ring.
Using a
plumber's pipe thread stick, smear/coat the bottom-side outer edge of the
cover plate measuring 1" wide and the matching area of the 24" diameter
grate so as to seal these two surfaces.
Place the cover
plate in the opening of the 24" diameter grate; reinsert the phillips head
screw through the 5" cover plate and the 24" grate firmly securing both to
the Adaptor Ring.
Installation is
now complete. Turn on filter pump.
*Note: When
finished, the 24" grate should be held firmly against the pool/spa floor all
the way to the edge. If not, it may be necessary to loosen the three bolts
and more firmly push the Adaptor Ring in to the Main Drain Sump.
CAUTION: If at
any time the 24" grate should be broken, cracked or missing - close the
pool/spa immediately until corrected.
CAUTION: Do NOT block the hydrostatic relief valve, it must be able to
operate properly WITH the drain cover in place (which it can, if properly
installed). In a few pools, the hydrostatic relief valve may
need to be replaced with a lower profile one. Call us for
information if you think you might need this. 800-253-7235 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting800-253-7235end_of_the_skype_highlighting
INFORMATION,
INSTALLATION, SERVICE AND SAFETY
The type
designation of this unit is "Submerged Suction Outlets".
This unit meets
the definition of "unblockable suction outlet" and as such does not
require multiple outlets or secondary devices, although this is something
that should be considered.
This product is
not designed to be located on seating areas or on the backrests for such
seating areas.
Instructions
for two or more suction outlets: In accordance with the agreed upon
definition of an "unblockable suction outlet" (Suction outlet cover/grates
that cannot be completely covered (shadowed) by the 18in. x 23in. body
blocking element as referenced in ANSI/ASME A112.19.8 - 2007) no
specific additional requirements apply.
In the event
that the system flow rate is divided among two or more suction outlets, if
one suction outlet should be completely blocked, the remaining suction
outlets serving that system shall have a flow rate capable of the full
flow of the pump(s) for the specific suction system.
Head loss test
on the drain suction outlet cover indicated no discernable head loss
to its certified operational range or 117.8 gallons per minute. This is
probably due to its extremely low velocity (well under 1.5 feet per
second) through its openings, (see head loss curve enclosed).
The acceptable
connecting pipe size is between 1 1/2" and 3"
This product is
only to be mounted in conjunction with suction outlets on the floor
This ABS round
drain cover is not to be used with any field built sumps, it is only to
be used with the typical fabricated 8" main drain sumps unless the field
built sumps can be suitably modified.
Replace within
7 years for the 24" cover and the 5" cover plate.
Tools required
for installation: 1/2" box/open end wrench, #2 Phillips Screw Driver and
plumbers' pipe thread stick.
Service and
winterizing instructions: If at any time should the cover become loose,
remove the three screws holding the cover plate in place, remove the plate
and re-attach the 24" grate. Now loosen the three hexagonal bolts so that
the PVC adaptor ring may be moved. Firmly push the 24" cover down flat
with the pool floor and while holding the plate down re-tighten the
hexagonal bolts. Then place cover plate back on the 24" cover and
reinstall the three cover plate screws. After this check the drain to
make sure it has been reinstalled securely.
Do not exceed
117.8 gallons per minute through this suction fitting.
The suction
fitting including fasteners should be observed for damages or tampering
before each use of this facility
If at any time
the
drain
becomes loose, it should be reattached or replaced before use of this
facility.
This
unit is
designed for flow rates up to 117.8gpm and caution should be
exercised
when replacing the pumping system, that this flow rate is not
exceeded.
Read then keep
these instructions for future reference
